SPI Pistons: Kit includes 1 piston, 1 ring set, 1 wrist pin, and 1 circlip set.
* Engineered to provide the best possible path for combustion chamber heat transfer to the cylinder walls
* All SPI pistons, rings, pins, and circlips are manufactured to OEM specifications
* All individual components are interchangeable with original parts
* Piston weight is comparable with original piston
Features of SPI Pistons:
Machined smooth heads:
A machine smooth piston crown should reflect combustion heat while reducing carbon buildup and protecting the top of the piston. Some tests have shown that a machined smooth head can increase HP and fuel economy by up to 6%!
Hard Anodized Crowns:
Pistons that are no anodized have a hardness of HRB 60, and pistons that are anodized have a hardness of HRB 105. This makes SPI pistons 75% stronger than non-anodized pistons.
* Increased heat resistance
* Minimized piston expansion & contraction
* Reduced coefficient of friction
Hypereutectic Cast:
A hypereutectic cast piston means increased silicon content. The end result is a piston that has an increased hardness, is more resistant to wear, and has an increased ability to withstand higher cylinder temperatures, pressure, and detonation.
* Helps reduce expansion from heat
* Makes the piston more durable and resistant to wear
* Allows the piston to run tighter clearances
Teflon-Molybdenum Coating:
Many SPI pistons are T-Moly coated (Teflon-Molybdenum). MOS2 is comprised of sub-micron sized particles of solid lubricant and resin blends of solvents. This coating is rolled on, so it provides 10 times the bond strength of spray on coatings.
This coating:
* Draws heat through piston walls and out the bottom
* Reduces heat and friction, for added power and longevity
* Helps eliminate cold seizures, and increases durability
