| 1. After removing the secondary clutch from the snowmobile, remove the white or black belt deflection adjuster. 2. Turn clutch face down. Remove every other screw that holds the sheave to the helix. 3. Have a second person apply downward pressure on the sheave as the remainder of the screws are removed. CAUTION: CLUTCH IS UNDER SPRING PRESSURE AND CAN CAUSE INJURY. 4. Once all the screws are removed, slowly release the downward pressure and the clutch will come apart. Now the clutch is in four parts; helix assembly, spring, stationary sheave and moveable sheave. The helix assembly and spring are reused in the assembly of the 10.4" clutch. 5. The stationary sheave houses the 6 rollers needed for reassembly. To remove the rollers, the spring pins need to be pressed out with a 1/8" punch and a hammer. Press out the axle pins to remove the rollers. THIS WOULD BE A GREAT TIME TO INSPECT ROLLERS FOR WEAR AND UPGRADE TO BLACK DIAMOND'S ROCK ROLLERS (#50020). 6. To assemble clutch, follow disassemble instructions in reverse. MAKE SURE TO USE AND INSTALL LARGE THIN WASHER BETWEEN THE HELIX ASSEMBLY AND MOVEABLE SHEAVE. TIP: When applying downward pressure, press down on the stationary sheave. This allows a second person to align the large thin washer and moveable sheave. Get several screws started before releasing pressure. FOLLOW OEM SPECIFICATIONS ON LOCTITE AND TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS. |
